<p>The object of the present invention is a process in which: 1) a water-dilutable basic coating composition is applied which contains at least one water-dilutable binder, metallic pigments, possibly dyes, the usual auxiliary agents and additives and up to 20 % wt. organic solvent; 2) a polymer film is formed from this basic coating composition; 3) a transparent primer paint is applied to this basic layer, containing a silyl-group-containing polymer obtained by the copolymerisation of: p1) 0.1 to 40 % wt. ethylenically unsaturated silane monomers of the general formula where R<1> = alkyl, aryl, acyl, aralkyl with 1 to 10 C atoms, R<2> is an organic residue with a polymerisable double bond, X = a hydrolysable group and n = 1, 2 or 3; p2) 5 to 30 % wt. monomers with at least 2 polymerisable ethylenically unsaturated double bonds; and p3) 30 to 90 % wt. unsaturated monomers without groups with active hydrogen; 4) the coating is cured together with the basic layer.</p> |
