PURPOSE:To enable the highly precise detection of a seam of a sheet, by measuring displacement of a detecting roller produced between said roller, whose opposite ends are separately and rotatably supported, and a member positioned facing and opposite to the roller, when a sheet is conveyed. CONSTITUTION:A sheet is conveyed between a detecting roller, whose opposite ends are separately and pivotably supported by a pair of retainers, and a member located facing and opposite to said roller, and two displacement detectors measure displacement of said member produced due to a seam of a sheet to perform a detection of the seam of the sheet through the operation of the signal. For example, a conveyance roller 2 and a detecting roller 3, positioned facing and opposite to the roller 2, are placed in the middle of a conveyance path 1 of a sheet B, and the detecting roller is held by two retainer members 4 separately and rotatably attached to a shaft 17. The displacement of the detecting roller produced due to the seam of the sheet is detected by a magnet 7 on said retainer member and a magnetic converter 6 mounted on a coupling lever 18, and this causes detecting of the arrival of the seam. |
