The present invention relates to a method for testing the leaktightness of an object and to a testing apparatus for implementing this method. The apparatus (10) includes a leaktight enclosure (11) in which an object (12) to be tested is placed. This enclosure is pressurised with a gas initially contained in a pressurisation device (14) including a piston (14'). A valve (13) makes it possible to direct the gas towards the enclosure (12). A reference chamber (20) is coupled with the enclosure (11), and a differential manometer (21) makes it possible to analyse the change in pressure during the test.
