The projectile used for practice firing has three radial fins at its rear end. These fins are enclosed in a ring (3). The internal longitudinal contour of this ring is designed so that its internal cross-sectional area varies. The cross-sectional area is a maximum at the leading edge (7) of the ring (3) and reduces to a minimum at an intermediate point (8). The cross-sectional area then remains constant between this point and the trailing edge (9) of the ring. The external surface of the ring is of cylindrical form. USE - Practice ammunition.
