PURPOSE:To reduce the number of intercell connecting processes, to improve electric resistance in each of intercell connection portions and to reduce the weight and volume of the connection portion, by connecting a plurality of cells using an element comprising a positive pole-plate and a negative pole-plate both having not less than one intercell connection structure prepared through the process of interconnecting lug portions in each of bored hole portions, and also a separator in series to one another. CONSTITUTION:Intercell connecting holes are bored in the upper parts of partition walls 3, positive and negative pole-plates 4, 4', 6, 6' each manufactured in accordance with an ordinary method are arranged respectively in such a manner that broad slab-like lugs located in the upper parts of the positive and negative pole-plates may be opposed to the bored hole portions respectively, and then these mutually opposed portions are arc-welded together with a large current by impressing voltage being pressurized from the outside thereof. Plastic frame bodies 10, each comprising the positive and negative pole-plates 4, 4', 6, 6' interconnected and arranged therein, the mutually laminated via separators 9, then mutually welded by means of heating, vibrating or the like energy and a battery cover 2 is lastly welded. In connection of each of two end cells, a positive pole terminal 11 or a negative pole terminal 12 is further arc-welded to either of the positive pole-plates 4, 4' or either of the negative pole-plates 6, 6', respectively. This results in a reduction in the number of intercell connecting processes, an improvement in electric resistance in each of intercell connection portions and reductions in the weight and volume of the connection portion. |
