PURPOSE:To reduce a drop in the capacity of a battery due to the charging and discharging thereof, and extend the lifetime of the battery by pulverizing the first component comprising a hydrogen storage alloy and the second component resisting an alkaline solution respectively, and mixing, molding and sintering both of the aforesaid components. CONSTITUTION:The first component comprising a hydrogen storage alloy capable of reversibly storing and discharging hydrogen, and the second component having corrosion resistance against an alkaline solution are respectively pulverized. Thereafter, both of the aforesaid components are mixed, molded and sintered. As a result, a chemical change takes place in such a way that the first component comprising the hydrogen storage alloy and the second component having corrosion resistance against an alkaline solution are partly fused nr made into an alloy. Consequently, while the hydrogen storage amount of the first component is being maintained, and the hydrogen storage amount is also being maintained due to the action of the second component, the alkaline resistance of the whole hydrogen storage alloy is improved due to the action of the second component. |
