PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber, composed of respective specific olefin/vinyl alcohol copolymer and modified polyester, having soft touch, excellent in air and water permeability and cuttability after forming into a nonwoven fabric and suitable as surface layer materials for paper diapers, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber obtained by compounding (A) an olefin/vinyl alcohol copolymer having >=98mol% saponification degree in the vinyl acetate part and 70-99mol% olefin content with (B) a modified polyester, prepared by copolymerizing a metal sulfonate group-containing organic acid and having the metal sulfonate content of 1-10mol% based on the acid component so as to expose the component (A) in the fiber axial direction on the conjugate fiber surface. Furthermore, polyethylene terephthalate, etc., are preferred as the backbone polymer of the component (B). Furthermore, e.g. 5-sodium sulfoisophthalic acid residue, etc., are cited as the metal sulfonate group- containing organic acid residue constituting the component (B). |
