<p>A food product comprises an edible filling (12) confined between pastry (11) and a cooked batter (13). The batter (13) has a griddled exterior surface (15), is cooked through and is united with the pastry at margin (14). The batter clamps the filling against the pastry. The product is manufactured by placing a pastry sheet (11) in a mould cavity (5) defined between heated plates (1, 3). Filling (12) is then placed on pastry (11) and a quantity of leavened batter (13) is placed on the pastry. The mould is closed and the batter heated by upper plate (3), the batter expanding into any void space remaining in the cavity and uniting with the pastry at edge margin (14).</p> |
