The invention relates to a tyre and rim system where the tyre is mounted on the radially inner side of the rim. A tyre sidewall is extended in a roughly axial diection and is mounted on a support ring forming a kind of rim lip. The sidewall is held onto the support ring lip against sidewall lift-off forms by a restraining device which comprises a ring groove in the extended rim lip forming a hook and/or self restraining profile. An additional reinforcement boned or vulcanised to the tyre sidewall has a corresponding hooked form passing around the extended rim lip and turning back into the ring groove. The support ring can be manufactured in glass or carbon filled plastic as well as metal. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system is used on tyres mounted on the radially inner side of a rim, is state of the art with regard to high performance driving, yet improves comfort, gives wt. saving and can be mass produced.
