The blocking device limits the number of trolleys which can be received, to prevent an adjacent access path from being blocked. The trolleys are received between a pair of parallel rails incorporating at least two control and blocking levers (20...23) which rotate about respective vertical axes under control of the trolley handle (41). The operation of the successive levers (20...23) is coordinated, so that the front lever (20) remains in the blocking position when trolleys are already positioned between the successive levers (20..23).
