<p>A brush mower useful, for example, for clearing under power lines comprises a carrier platform or tractor (12), an articulating rotating crane (11) and an auxiliary hydraulic power unit (13) carried by the carrier platform (12) and a brush mowing head (15) carried by the articulating crane (11). The mowing head (15) comprises a casing (20) adapted to be mounted to a crane (11) for travel over ground to be cleared, a motor (16) carried by the casing (20), and a drum (21) with a center shaft (27) mounted for rotation in the casing (20) and powered by the auxiliary hydraulic power unit (13) and motor (16). There is a series of spaced apart outward facing interior semi-circular plates (36) about the hammer shafts (32) affixed to the drum wall defining wells (33) about the hammer shafts (32). Hammers (22) are mounted on the hammer shafts (32) for free rotation thereabout in each of the wells (33). <IMAGE></p> |
