PURPOSE: To manufacture a composite rod material having a periphery of color different from a transparent central part by surrounding a rod material of a first transparent acrylic polymer with a flowable solution containing an acrylic monomer, dye and a second acrylic polymer dissolved therein, and inducing a polymerization of the monomer. CONSTITUTION: The rod material of an acrylic polymer for forming a transparent see-through refractive lens is surrounded by a solution containing an acrylic polymer dissolved in a mixture made of an acrylic monomer and a dye. An amount of the polymer dissolved in the solution remains flowable with the solution, and the amount is effective to stop expansion of the polymer in contact with the mixture. The solution desirably has a viscosity of about 1,500 to 10,000 cps. Generally, an amount of the polymer dissolved in the mixture is about 5 to 25 wt.% of the solution. To prepare the solution, a mixture of a desired acrylic monomer or monomer and the like, an initiator and arbitrary dye is set under polymerization condition. |
