<p>PURPOSE:To easily remove part of a coating layer lengthwise without flawing the glass layer of an optical fiber by moving a cutting edge in the peripheral direction and axial direction of the optical fiber in combination. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber 1 is clamped by a fixation member 2 and tensed by a weight 6, and a groove member 3 is arranged between the optical fiber and fixation member 2. The groove member 3 has a V groove for receiving the optical fiber 1 and the cutting edge 4 is fitted to a cutting edge fitting tool 9 without touching the optical fiber glass 1a. In this constitution, the groove member 3 is moved under the command of a personal computer 10 in the axial and peripheral direction of the optical fiber 1 to remove part of the coating layer 1b. At this time, the cutting edge cuts the coating layer only to constant depth, to the fiber glass is never flawed.</p> |
