<p>PURPOSE:To improve obstacle detection ability by providing a light scattering surface in a wide range along the end surface on the exterior side of a car door, and by measuring the brightness of the image on the light scattering surface image-formed by a lens through finely divided lines of receiving light devices, in each part. CONSTITUTION:A light scattering surface 10 is formed on the entire region along the height of a door 1, adjacent to one end of the exterior side of the door 1 of a car, and perpendicular to a door surface. A lens 11 is provided on one end of the door 1 opposed to the light scattering surface 10, and the reflected light from the light scattering surface 10 is received thereby and the image of the light scattering surface 10 is formed, which is injected into a light receiving device 12. The light receiving device 12 is composed of finely devided lines of receiving light devices for generating a signal S of quantity of light corresponding to each part of the light scattering surface 10. At a calculation processer 20, each signal of quantity of light received before the door is opened is stored in a first memory 21, while that received after the door is closed in a second memory 22, and an obstacle detection signal E is output by making a comparison between the difference in each signal of quantity of light from each memory 21, 22 and a reference.</p> |
