PURPOSE:To form metal coating having uniformity and adhesivity on the surface of each single yarn by opening carbon yarn bundle in a solution of surfactant, immersing in a palladium hydrosol containing a surfactant having an electrical charge reverse to that of the surfactant and subjecting to electroless plating. CONSTITUTION:Carbon yarn bundle is opened in a solution containing any of cationic, anionic and nonionic surfactants, immersed in a palladium hydrosol containing a surfactant having an electrical charge reverse to that of the surfactant (e.g. solution containing anionic or nonionic surfactant when cationic surfactant is used) and palladium colloid of ultrafine particles is adsorbed on the surface of each yarn. Then the carbon yarn bundle is immersed in a solution containing a metallic ion of nickel, copper, silver, etc., and a reducing agent such as hypochlorite and subjected to electroless plating to form a metallic coating having excellent uniformity and adhesivity on the surface of each single yarn of the yarn without damaging the yarn. |
