摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain sufficiently high absorption even if the optical thickness of the film between first and second conductors is smaller than 1/4 a selected wavelength by allowing a reflector to be spaced apart from the third conductor on the second surface of the film along a radiation passage. CONSTITUTION: A detection element is composed of a multilayered structure consisting of a film 10, conductors 21, 22 and a gap 28. The film 10 has temp. dependence and is constituted of a solid liquid crystal substance changing the polarizing mode of light passed through or reflected from the film 10. The opposed surface 26 of a mount device 25 spaced apart from the conductor 22 is made reflective with respect to a predetermined range of radiation and the optical thickness n.t of the film 10 between the conductors 21, 22 is set to 1/4 the selected wavelengthλS within a predetermined wavelength range or less and the optical thickness n.t of the film 10 and the conductor 22 on the side opposed to a reflecting surface 26 are constituted of a resistance layer showing sufficient effective area resistance Z2 to almost absorb reflected radiation within the predetermined wavelength range.
