PURPOSE:To keep the density of a recording image uniform and make an image with a high grade possible as the result by a method wherein a density detecting device which detects dye concentration of an ink is provided, and in response to the dye concentration which is detected by this detecting device, a mask quantity at masking process is changed. CONSTITUTION:Dye concentrations and residual quantities of respective color inks are detected by an ink sensor 35A which detects a resistance value between electrodes which are provided on respective color ink strikers, using an A/D converter 35. A CPU 21, e.g. when an A/D converting value for a Bk ink is '10MEX', referring to a previously calculated table value, discriminates that the Bk ink has a dye concentration of 1.0%, and sets a masking constant X10 which is most suitable for this ink dye concentration. Also, when a detected value is at '80MEX' or higher, it is discriminated that there is no ink. The same process is performed for other concentration data C. M and Y. Then, by the above mentioned set masking constant, masking process is applied to the concentration data for respective colors, and a corrective concentration data is developed on a buffer for recording in a data memory 23. |
