PURPOSE:To efficiently collect a carrier of a surplus developer of a latent image holding body without damaging an image and the surface of the latent image holding body by using a gas-permeable form roller having a minute particle layer on the surface. CONSTITUTION:After a latent image is developed by a developer, a cylindrical gas-permeable form roller 4 having a layer of minute particles of a uniform particle size on the surface is brought into contact with its image surface and a carrier of a surplus developer on a holding body 5 is sucked and collected from a cavity 3 of the inside surface of the roller 4. Such a form roller 4 is made by wetting a cylindrical gas permeable foaming body layer consisting of, for instance, plastic such as polyurethane, silicone rubber, etc., or rubber by such a wetting agent as alcohol, bringing minute particles 2 of a uniform particle size consisting of various resins, a metal, glass, etc., to scatter and adhere uniformly thereon, and thereafter, softening these particles 2 by heating the whole, and fusing the resin particles to the outside surface of the cylindrical foaming body. In such a way, the carrier of the surplus developer can be collected efficiently without demaging the image and the surface of the latent image holding body 5. |
