Bearings are disclosed which have a surface layer of a lead alloy, the lead alloy being alloyed with tin, indium, antimony and/or copper. The lead alloy is provided with particles of inorganic material, such as boron nitride, silicon carbide and molybdenum sulphide. The inorganic particles may be present at from 0.3 to 25% by volume of the surface layer. The inorganic particles provide improved wear resistance for the bearing. |
