<p>PURPOSE: To keep complete seal of a piston and an inner bore forming a hydraulic actuator by fixing one end of a protective boot to the outer edge of the piston, extending it from the piston through a bore, and fixing the other end of the boot to a caliper. CONSTITUTION: A protective boot 23 is provided with two flexible boot portions 25, 27 and a bearing ring 29 made of less-frictional material. One free end of the boot portion 25 is fixed to a groove provided in the outer edge of a piston 15 near the front end of a piston 15, and the other end is fixed to a groove in a guide plate 9. The boot portion 27 has an extending portion 31 engaging into a groove of a bearing ring 29 on the other side surface of the guide plate 9, and the extending portion 31 projects through the bore in the guide plate 9. A free end of the boot portion 27 engages with an annular portion 27a of a caliper housing 3 surrounding it. The structure prevents dust or others from going into the piston 15 of a hydraulic actuator and a liquid bore 21.</p> |
