PURPOSE:To efficiently convert energy of high pressure steam into energy of rotation by expanding steam from the vicinity of the center of rotation and covering a volute nozzle, rotated by means of reaction force and impulse force, with a disc-shaped cover. CONSTITUTION:High pressure steam, produced in a high pressure chamber 5 through combustion or vaporization, flows in from a volute nozzle inlet A and expands in the volute nozzle while being adjusted to maintain its predetermined quantity by means of a throat B. The volute nozzle rotates counterclockwise by means of reaction force and impulse force. Expanded steam is ejected from an outlet C on the periphery and nearly comes to a standstill. Since the volute nozzle is sheltered by means of a disc-shaped cover D, loss of kinetic energy due to a friction between the nozzle and the open air during its rotation is reduced. Rotatory power of the volute nozzle is transmitted to gear 6 through a shaft 1 of a round pipe and is extracted as motive power. Thus, even superhigh pressure steam of more than 300 atmospheric pressure may be expanded reasonably and extracted efficiently as energy of rotation. |
