METHOD FOR PREPARING OF 6- N- EXOPHENYLCARBAMOYL- 3- (BETA- PHENYLISOPROPYL) SIDNONIMINE

This compound is used for medical purposes as a biologically active substance with a stimulating effect on the nervous system and is commonly known under the generic name of mesocarb. The method uses a simplified flow diagram, which ensures increased yield rates in terms of final product. The method involves carrying out a cyan-methylation of β-phenyl-iso-propylamine, followed by a nitrosification in an acetic acid medium in the presence of catalytic amounts of potassium bromide and subjecting the product to an intramolecular cyclization until 3-/ β-phenyl isopropyl/ sydnonimine is obtained.The latter is settled using an aqueous solution of nitrate ions, the nitrate obtained made to react with phenyl isocyanate in a chloroform medium in the presence of triethyl amine.
