Articulated four-stroke pedal and bottom bracket assembly for cycles. This pedal and bottom bracket assembly includes two cranks (J-01) articulated by gearing to a central pinion (E1) and a connecting rod (H) which are fixed on either side of an axle (1) which imparts an oscillatory movement to the pinion (E1). This movement is obtained to the left by a mechanism separate from the crank (01) actuating the connecting rod (04). To the right, the connecting rod (H) is positioned on the pinion (E1) and the satellite gear (D1) in order to reverse the direction of rotation with respect to the satellite gear (C1). The crank (J) also meshes in the satellite gear (C1). Each satellite has a double ring gear, which can clip onto one another (C1-C2)-(C3-C4) and meshes on a planet wheel (B1) secured to (B2) which clips (B5) in an anti-return fashion onto the fixed bearing (A1). The clipped-in satellite gear causes the entire squirrel cage to which it is secure to rotate, this cage also carrying the sprockets (chain wheels) drives the chain. Rotation takes place in four strokes and six successive auto-mechanical phases. <IMAGE>
