<p>PURPOSE: To uniformize the nonuniformity of pictures due to the dispersion of the characteristics of a switching element within an allowable period by making the electric resistance value of an insulation layer be larger than the electric resistance value of a liquid crystal material layer and specifying the ratio of the capacitance of the insulation layer and the capacitance of the liquid crystal material layer. CONSTITUTION: The electric resistance value Rs of the insulation layer viewed across a picture element is made larger than the electric resistance value Re of the liquid crystal material layer and the ratio Cs /Cl of the capacitance Cs (per unit surface area) of the insulation layer at the part of the picture element and the capacitance Cl (per unit surface area) of the liquid crystal material layer at the part of the picture element is turned to a value within the range of 1-100. In this case, it is suitable to turn the ratio of Cs /Cl to the value within the range of 2-50. Also, the resistance value Rs and capacitance Cs of the insulation layer respectively mean the resistance value and capacitance of the two insulation layers measured in a vertical direction to the two insulation layers considered as a synthetic layer. Thus, the nonuniformity of the pictures due to the dispersion of the characteristics of the switching element is uniformized within the allowable period.</p> |
