FELINE INTERFERON AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To produce a large quantity of feline IFN (FeIFN) by proliferating a recombinant silkworm nuclear polyhedrosis virus which has been put to gene recombination with a DNA coding the protein of FeIFN. CONSTITUTION:The DNA coding the protein of FeIFN is sectioned from plasmid extracted from E. coli (pFeIFN1) and bound to the cloning vector for silkworm to make a recombinant plasmid. This plasmid and silkworm nuclear polyhedrosis virus DNA are put to co-transfection into silkworm established cells with recombinant silkworm nuclear polyhedrosis virus, which is then proliferated in the silkworm established cells or living silkworm body, thus producing the objective FeIFN. The present FeIFN can be purified by e.g. conventional column chromatography.
