Data writing onto magnetic disc - holding data in cache memory and transferring onto tracks on multiple discs

A process for writing data onto the discs of a stack tubes place under the control of a unit (20) that operates with a main processor (25) and a disc cache memory (23). The disc stack has a number of heads that are moved radially to a selected track location. Data are entered in sequence into the cache memory and the heads of the disc system are positioned when the block of data is complete. A transfer of data onto the discs takes place by simultaneous movement of the heads. ADVANTAGE - Achieves high speed writing of data onto discs.
