A description is given of an apparatus for producing a solute of high purity, comprising a boiler or reboiler, a perforated plate rectification column with a static head and a high-efficiency partial condenser or dephlegmator. The static head is obtained by using water-repellent material for the plates. For each liquid used, the desired height of the head depends on the choice of the diameter of the perforations in the plates. In the dephlegmator, the helical tube is wound into a kind of endless screw, formed by superimposed discs which are suitably slotted and beaten, and the free spaces between the tube and the discs are filled with metal shavings which increase the pressure drop and reduce to a minimum the preferred paths of both the liquid and the vapour. <IMAGE> |
