COMPOSITION FOR RECTAL ADMINISTRATION

A parenteral preparation, other than injections, containing cytarabine which is only poorly absorbable through the digestive tract, wherein cytarabine is dispersed in a mixture comprising a nonionic surfactant and fat or oil as the essential ingredients. Cytarabine can rapidly be absorbed and achieve a high plasma level when the preparation is administered to the rectum. Since it thus becomes possible to administer cytarabine, often used as a remedy for various cancers, without resort to intravenous drip infusion or subcutaneous injection, mental and physical pains of a cancer patient can be relieved.
