PURPOSE:To make it possible to restrict ink evaporation for a long time and thereby maintain recording properties stably by providing a constitution in which a tubular communicating path extends from the inner space of an ink tank to a ventilation orifice. CONSTITUTION:An ink absorber 107 is made of a porous material or fiber, and a buffer chamber 108 is formed almost in the center of the ink absorber 107 of an ink tank 105. A small dia. atmospherically communicating pipe 110 with a ventilation hole 109 is arranged between the buffer chamber 108 and an outside space. In an ambient temperature increases, the volume of ink with which the ink absorber 107 is impregnated becomes inflated, and the inflated portion of ink only permeates into the buffer chamber 108. Consequently, the portion is stored in the buffer chamber 108 instead of being guided to the outside space through the pipe 110. In addition, the ink that effuses subsequent to the restoration of an ambient temperature to a normal temperature is again absorbed into the ink absorber 107. As a result, it is possible to restrict evaporation of the ink to a minimum possible extent. Thus it is ensured that recording properties are maintained and running cost is reduced. |
