FLAME-RETARDANT RUBBER COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain a composition suitable for jacketing material for electric wire and cable, having excellent flame retardance and mechanical characteristics and a little smoke free from melt drip during combustion by blending polyolefin- based synthetic rubber with a specific amount of a specific compounded flame retardant, etc. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pts. wt. polyolefin-based synthetic rubber (e.g. ethylene or propylene copolymer) is blended with (B) 30-300 pts. wt. compounded flame retardant consisting essentially of a mixture of double salt of calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate and basic magnesium carbonate and optionally (C) 1-50 pts. wt. organopolysiloxane resin.
