POLYAMIDE AND HEAT-RESISTANT METAL ION ADSORBENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide which has chelate-forming properties is useful as an adsorbent which adsorbs metal ions at high temperatures and is excellent in heat resistance and moldability by selecting a specified polyamide. CONSTITUTION:A polyamide having a structure of formula I [wherein X is a group of formula II (wherein R is H or a lower alkyl); Y is a group of the formula: -CO-A-CO- (wherein A is a nitrogeneous heterocyclic ring), desirably a bivalent organic group selected from among groups of formulas II-VII; Z is a group of formula VIII and m and n are each the number of repeating units] and containing 5-95 mol% component Y based on the total acid compo nent content and having an inherent viscosity (as measured in a solution formed by dissolving 0.5 g of the polyamide in 100 ml of N-methylpyrrolidone at 30 deg.C) of 0.3-2.5 dl/g is selected.
