PURPOSE: To obtain a pharmaceutical that contains a 3-substituted-2- hydroxyindole derivative and is useful for therapy of interleukin-1 (IL-1)- mediated disorders and functional deficiencies. CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical contains a compound of formula I [X and Y are each H, F, Cl, Br or CH3 ; R1 is H a 1-4C alkyl; Q is formula II-IV (R2 is H or a 1-3C alkyl) provided that when Q is formula II and R2 is H, R1 is not H] or its pharmacologically permissible basic salt. This pharmaceutical is useful for therapy of IL-1 mediated immune function deficiencies (e.g. allergy, psoriasis) in daily dose of 0.5-4mg/kg in oral administration or 0.01-4mg/kg in parenteral administration.
