PURPOSE:To lengthen the life of a hydrogen storage electrode independently of the kind of hydrogen storage alloy by forming the hydrogen storage electrode with composite powder of hydrogen storage alloy powder and carbonyl nickel powder, which covers the hydrogen storage alloy powder, with chain structure numerously branched in the three-dimensional direction. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen storage electrode is formed mainly with composite powder of hydrogen storage alloy powder and carbonyl nickel powder, which covers the hydrogen storage alloy powder, with chain structure numerously branched in the three-dimensional direction. Since the composite powder is three-dimensionally connected each other with the three-dimensional chain structure of the carbonyl nickel powder, the conductivity of the electrode is increased, and stress caused by the expansion and shrinkage of the hydrogen storage alloy particle attendant on repeated charge-discharge is eased, and the generation of cracks and powderization of the hydrogen storage alloy particle are retarded. The cycle life of the electrode can be increased. |
