The tool is intended for the selective production of recesses and smooth or threaded bores from the solid. A distinguishing feature is that the endmill (7) for machining core holes is separate from the internal thread milling cutter, which takes the form of a toothed ring (18) fitting just behind the endmill and locking in place so that it rotates with it. A bayonet lock (27,28) secures the endmill into a milling adaptor which has a bayonet lock fastening (33,34) into a main toolholder (5). In the configuration shown the main toolholder has cutter inserts (29) for counterboring. USE/ADVANTAGE - Versatile machine tool. Different thread forms can be cut using same endmill to produce core hole. Low tooling cost. Low set-up cost.
