A vehicle ventilation system has an air intake chamber (1) with a water separating box (4). A normally closed outlet (5,8) is opened by a separate control device (11), when a certain amt. of water has accumulated in the box. The control device may be a float or a dampness sensor, connected mechanically to an outlet shutter (8) or electrically to a drain pump. ADVANTAGE - Releasing the water in one go flushes out leaves, etc. which otherwise block the outlet and allow fumes to enter the ventilation system.
