A device for determining the adhesion between a tyre (13) rolling on a road (15) and the road surface (14) has a plurality of measurement buttons (10) arranged in the tyre sculpture (11) which are associated, by virtue of their geometry, with graduated coefficients of adhesion ( mu button). A sensor unit (16) detects those measurement buttons (10) which slide relative to the road surface (14) as the tyre (12) rolls over it. An evaluation unit (17) determines the measurement buttons (10) associated with the highest coefficients of adhesion ( mu button, max) from the number of sliding measurement buttons (10) and calculates the instantaneous adhesion ( mu R/S) between tyre (12) and road surface (14) from these coefficients of adhesion.
