PURPOSE:To provide superior developed image quality freed of carrier trailing, fogging, and thinning of characters and high in image density by allowing a magnetic carrier to regulate a relationship between a current value and a relaxing time in a prescribed range under kinetic conditions. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic drum 10 and a photosensitive drum 12 are rotated and the current value is obtained by dividing the observed value of a voltmeter 9 by the value of a resistor 6, and the current value of the carrier obtained in such a manner under the kinetic conditions is selected in the range of 0.8 - 2.0 muA. The developing sleeve 20 (10) and the drum 24 (12) are rotated, 50 Hz AC voltage is applied from an AC power supply 34 between the sleeve 20 and the drum 24, and the relaxing time is obtained from the phase difference between both by measuring the current and the voltage by an oscillograph, and the relaxing time of the carrier thus obtained under the kinetic conditions is selected so as to adjust in the range of 4.0 - to 6.0 msec, thus permitting carrier trailing as well as fogging and thinning of characters to be prevented, and image density to be enhanced by combining both the regulations. |
