PURPOSE:To improve the ultrasonic diagnostic function by extracting image data corresponding to each interest area divided equally into two from a frame memory, deriving a histogram of a luminance distribution to the specific direction of each interest area, based on each image data thereof and displaying it simultaneously, for instance, so that the symmetric property can be examined. CONSTITUTION:By an input circuit 10, it is instructed to set an ROI of an arbitrary shape and a symmetry axis P for making the ROI symmetrical on a B mode image displayed on a TV monitor 6, and instructed so as to obtain an ROIL and an ROIR by dividing the ROI into two. Consequently, from the frame memory of a DSC 5, image data corresponding to these ROIs is read out and written in an image memory 12. Subsequently, by a luminance distribution arithmetic part 11, a histogram to a luminance distribution is derived along the specific direction, based on the image data corresponding to the ROIL and the ROIR, and these two histogram data are outputted to the DSC 5. Accordingly, the histograms of the luminance distribution of the ROIL and the ROIR are displayed simultaneously on a monitor 6. |
