A washable diaper 1 comprises a front portion 4, a rear portion 2 and a central portion 3. The diaper 1 includes a central padding 5 of absorbent cotton material. Releasable fastening means for the diaper 1 comprises strips 10, 11 of hook-type Velcro (Trade Mark) material at rear corner tabs 6 and strips 12, 13 of loop-type Velcro material at front corner tabs 7. A shroud in the form of a fold-over pocket 51, 52 is provided for each of the hook strips 10, 11. The pockets 51, 52 are folded over to cover the hook strips 10, 11 during washing preventing fouling of the hook formations. <IMAGE> |
