An electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising a conductive substrate and, provided thereon, a photoreceptive layer comprising a phthalocyanine pigment and a binder resin, wherein the phthalocyanine pigment has water molecules adsorbed thereon in a numerical amount greater than any other molecules, as measured by a vacuum method.
