PURPOSE: To provide an ultrasonic transducer and an image device using it which can be easily inserted in a hole part of the body cavity to image two surfaces of the hole part by performing transmission and receiving from an ultrasonic transducer in which the vibrator array directions of vibrator group elements provided on both surfaces of a packing material are different from each other to a tested body. CONSTITUTION: Vibrator elements 12A, 12B which are formed of piezoelectric ceramics and formed by arranging many micro-strap like ultrasonic vibrators, flexible signal conductor plates 13A, 13B, matching layers 14A, 14B, and acoustic lenses 15A, 15B are provided on both surfaces of a packing material 11 by adhesion or the like, and the vibrator array directions of the vibrator elements 12A, 12B intersect perpendicularly to each other. Ultrasonic beams of two systems different in the scanning direction of the ultrasonic beam can be transmitted and received to and from the thus integrated ultrasonic transducer. Accordingly, the device can be integrated to be reduced in size, and two surfaces different in scanning direction can be imaged so as to be easily inserted in the hole part of the body cavity or the like. |
