[Also in Division B8] Apparatus using a rolled web either made up of joined bags to be filled (see Division B8) or material for use in making bags, comprises a rotary member on which the roll is mounted and from which the web is fed to stationary elements for the filling or bag making process. The roll 37 of material which may be tubular, gusseted, folded to U form, according to the type of bag required, is mounted on a rotating plate 35, surrounded by a stationary heat sealing and, if desired, severing members, 46. Belts 41, 42 on the plate run so as to be stationary relative to these members and a blower 45 causes loops of web to be formed between the members as the web is fed by rollers 40. The belt 42 presses the web against the temporarily activated heaters and the belt 41 cools the seals. The bags may be severed and removed by means not shown, or perforated as at 60, Fig. 11, and spooled on to a reel. A tubular web may in addition be longitudinally severed midway of its width to produce doubled output. Various sizes of bags may be formed. As in the bagfilling embodiment, the belts and roll may be carried on an external rotating ring. |
