<p>A cutting or pressing device operable by an electromagnetic linear actuator (5, 6), preferably for use in dehorning cattle, cutting cables, cutting steel mesh, and other cutting or pressing operations. The device is provided with handles (8) on the frame (1), with a stationary blade (2) and a moveable blade (3). The moveable blade (3) is actuated by actuator (5, 6), which is driven by motor (18) connected to power source (13). Preferably, the actuator (5, 6) is provided with a spring tension accumulator assembly (20) which allows the cutting or pressing operation to be completed quickly after an initial larger force, or, a hydraulic multiplier assembly (40) which allows a larger force to be applied in compromise for a reduction in distance moved.</p> |
