PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of image quality in a photographic area by separating the photographic area from a character area on an original image by a separation means and forming an image in monochrome in the photographic area other than character. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with the image area separation means E which automatically separates the character area and the area other than the character area on the original image based on an output signal from an original read sensor A and a color specifying and switching means F which transmits the output signal from the original read sensor A with which the image area separation means E discriminates the area as the area other than the character area to an image forming means D so as to form the monochromatic image in spite of a color detection signal. Therefore, the area other than the character is not separated to a black part and a red part by automatic color separation, and the monochromatic image is formed for the image where a black-based color and a red-based color coexist like a color photographic image. Thus, the recorded image which is easier to be viewed is obtained even for an original where the character and a color photograph coexist. |
