PURPOSE:To improve the reproducibility of line images and the density of solid images by using the developer having the relaxation time under dynamic conditions which is in a specific range with respect to the relaxation time of the carrier under dynamic conditions. CONSTITUTION:A two-component developer layer 3 is interposed between a sleeve 1 and a drum 2 in a nip position. This developer layer 3 can be approxi mated to the layer in which a specific electrostatic capacity C and a specific electric resistance R are connected in parallel. The line width of each line is made constant and the lacking of the front ends and rear ends is prevented at the time of development of dense fine lines if the magnetic carrier and toner are so selected and combined that the relaxation time A of the developer under the dynamic conditions satisfies satisfies equation I with respect to the relaxa tion time B of the carrier under the dynamic conditions. The high quality line image is formed in this way, the image density of the solid parts can be im proved as well. |
