摘要 The novel feature in the prodn. of electroconductive homo- or co-polymers by polymerisation in an electrolyte of 5-membered N-, O- or S-heterocyclics with conj. pi-electron systems or of aniline cpds. is that the polymerisation is effected in the presence of a sulphonic acid-substd. polymeric cpd. The polymsn. is pref. effected by an anodic oxidative process in an electrolyte or is effected with the aid of an oxidn. agent. An (in)org. substrate can be present during the polymsn. The sulphonic acid-substd. polymer is typically of formula (I), where X = -SO3 or its salt; R = H or Me; and Y = -COO- 1-4C alkyl, -CN, -COMe, -COHH, -CONH2, -CONH.CH2OR, Ph or Cl; m = 1-1000; and n = at least 2. USE/ADVANTAGE - The use of the polymers thus obtd. is electrode materials for primary or sec. batteries or as elec. conductors is claimed. The polymers have better electrical conductivity, mechanical properties and electrochemical deposition properties than prior-art polymers, e.g. those of DE3425511 in which a pyrrole- or thiophene-sulphonic acid is used as conductive salt. Typically, the polymers have tear strength above 50 N/mm2 as opposed to only ca. 36 N/mm2 for prior-art polymers. Also depositions of 1 wt.% can be achieved without damage to the polymer.
