PURPOSE:To allow the use of the supporting base for an oxygen sensor in a high-temp. atmosphere and to suppress the generation of cracks in the supporting base by using a material having a specific coefft. of thermal expansion and thermal conductivity, for example forsterite, as the supporting base. CONSTITUTION:The supporting base 13 of the oxygen sensor 15 is constituted of the member having 8X10<-6> to 12X10<-6>/ deg.C coefft. of thermal expansion and <=0.01cal.cm/s.cm<2>. deg.C thermal conductivity. The generation of the cracks due to the difference in the coefft. of thermal expansion from metallic pins 12 can be avoided in this way. Since the electrical consumption of a heater is reduced, the leak current between the heater and the cathode electrode is suppressed. The material exhibiting such characteristics include forsterite. The forsterite may be either of the original stone thereof or synthetic forsterite. Glass may be mixed therewith. Further, the coefft. of thermal expansion of the member is lowered if alumina is mixed with the forsterite. |
