PURPOSE:To eliminate the coloration in display and to widen a visual field angle by laminating a liquid crystal cell for display of a double refraction effect type having electrodes for display, a color compensating means which negates the coloration of transmitted light by the dependency of the liquid crystal cell on wavelengths and a visual angle compensating means which has an optical axis in a thickness direction. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal cell B for the color compensating means of an ECB type is disposed as the color compensating means on the light incident side (lower side) or the liquid crystal cell A for display of the ECB type and further, the liquid crystal cell C for visual angle compensation which is homeotropically oriented is disposed as the visual angle compensating means between the liquid crystal cell A for display and the liquid crystal cell B for color compensation. Namely, the phase differences of the respective wavelength light rays generated in the liquid crystal cell A for display of the double refraction effect type are negated by the color compensating means B, by which the coloration in the display is eliminated. In addition, the dependency of visual sensation is lessened by providing the visual angle compensating means C having the optical axis in the thickness direction. The coloration in the display is eliminated in this way and the display is prevented from coloring even when observed from the direction inclined with the normal of the display surface. The visual field angle is thus widened. |
