PURPOSE:To perform the maintenance of a program immediately at the time of detecting the abnormal state of a terminal equipment by controlling the central arithmetic processing control part of the terminal equipment based on a prescribed code string to read out and write internal information in a program memory and a central arithmetic processing part. CONSTITUTION:A communication control part 11 converts the signal inputted from a host device 20 through a transmission line 41 to code data and sends it as a code string to a terminal equipment 30 through a terminal connection part 12. The code string of the communication control part 11 is sent to a code detecting part 13, and this part 13 detects the code string. Based on this prescribed code string, a maintenance control part 14 controls read and write of internal information in the program memory and the central arithmetic processing circuit from and to a central arithmetic processing control part 21 in the terminal equipment 20. Thus, the maintenance of the program is performed immediately at the time of detecting the abnormal state of the terminal equipment, and a peripheral device for maintenance is not required for each terminal equipment.
