<p>A continuous packaging sleever assembly (10) and process for wrapping packaging sleeves (21) about product groups (26). The assembly (10) has a frame structure (11) with a generally horizontal working surface, a transfer conveyor (13) to move the product containers (14) across the working surface, and horizontally movable flight bar structures (15) connected to a continuous chain structure (19). The flight bar structures (15) are constructed and arranged to be selectively movable in a generally perpendicular direction to the product transfer conveyor means (13) and to separate the product containers (14) into predetermined groups (26). A packaging sleeve transfer and placement structure (23-25) is provided in synchronization with the flight bar structures (15) for depositing flat packaging sleeves (21) between adjacent flight bar structures (15) and above the product groups (26). The flight bar structures (15) simultaneously move the product groups (26) and the individual sleeves (21) thereon. Product group wrapping and closing structures (27, 31) are provided to fold and secure the packaging sleeves (21) in a tight configuration about the product groups (26).</p> |
